Wellspring Counseling Center, LLC

Wellspring Center opened its doors in Moorestown, NJ on October 15, 1998. Paula Ryan wished to create a holistic psychotherapy practice offering individual, couples, family and group therapy to men, women, adolescents in the Burlington/Gloucester/Camden County area of South Jersey.

Paula is a Licensed Clinical Social Workers with experience in community mental health, psychiatric, and school settings. Her many years of experience as both a student and teacher of hatha yoga has reinforced a strong belief in the relationship of body, mind, and spirit in the healing process.

The Wellspring philosophy is wellness-based, focusing on clients’ strengths. Clients are supported in honoring their emotional, physical, and spiritual needs while fostering intimacy with themselves and others to achieve radical self-acceptance within a context of change.

Paula L. Ryan, LCSW, CHt has practiced and taught Hatha Yoga and Meditation since 1972. She taught yoga and was on staff at the Himalayan Institute Center for Holistic Medicine in Buffalo, NY. Paula is certified as an Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher 500 (E-RYT) since December 2002, and is influenced by the Himalayan Institute tradition. She has also studied with Joan White in the Iyengar tradition and in the Ana Forrest style of teaching.

Paula strongly believes in the body-mind connection. In 1991 she received a Masters in Social Work (MSW) from Rutgers University. Since 2008 she has been studying Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT) as developed by Dr. Sue Johnson, based on a scientific understanding of attachment and love and their central importance in human life. She has an advanced certification for Heart Centered Hypnotherapy, with Diane Zimberoff, LCSW. A breast cancer survivor since 2000, she teaches yoga workshops for other survivors.
